Questions
Does it work?
Does this actually work, or is it another scam?
It works for a lot of dogs and does nothing for some. We'd rather say that plainly than promise you a miracle. The independent research on calming signals of this type is genuine but modest — it points to reduced signs of stress in some dogs, not a cure. That's exactly why we refund you and let you keep the collar if yours isn't one of them.
I've already tried a calming collar and it did nothing.
Most people who say this have hit one of three things. It was aimed at stopping the reaction rather than lowering the baseline underneath it. It was fitted too loosely to release properly — these collars work on body heat and skin contact. Or it promised "calm" and delivered something subtler, so the change went unnoticed. Read The Threshold Guide for the full picture.
How long until I see something?
Some owners notice within a few days. Many need one to two weeks. Some see nothing at all. Fit it well before an event like New Year's Eve — not on the night.
What does "working" actually look like?
Not a different dog. The same dog, a few notches down. Settling faster after a trigger. Recovering instead of escalating. Taking food in a situation where they previously couldn't. Noticing a noise and then letting it go.
Safety
Will it sedate my dog or change his personality?
No. It isn't a drug and it never enters the bloodstream, so it physically cannot sedate. If you've had a bad experience with medication and a "zombie" dog, this works nothing like that. You want him calmer. You don't want him gone.
Is it safe around children and cats?
The signal is species-specific and isn't systemic. As with any collar: supervise a dog who chews things, remove it if you see any skin irritation, and keep packaging away from children and pets.
Can my dog wear it in water?
Brief wetting is fine. Long swims will shorten how long it lasts.
Can I use it with medication or training?
Yes — that's the whole point. It's a layer, not a replacement. Keep doing everything you're already doing, and keep taking whatever your vet has prescribed.
Fit and use
How do I fit it properly?
Two fingers between the collar and the neck — no more. Sit it high up the neck where there's warmth and skin contact. Leave it on 24/7. Trim any excess. This matters more than anything else you'll do, which is why a Proper Fit Card ships with every order.
Will it fit my dog?
It's adjustable and fits small through large dogs. Fit matters more than size.
Can they wear their normal collar too?
Yes. Wear it alongside their everyday collar and ID tag — don't replace them.
How long does one collar last?
Around 30 days of continuous wear.
My dog's situation
My dog's anxiety is severe, not mild.
Then please see your vet. Severe anxiety usually needs a proper plan and often medication, and that combination is well supported. Pawse is designed to work alongside it, not instead of it. If your dog is self-injuring or escaping, that's a vet conversation, not a collar conversation.
Will it help with fireworks specifically?
It's aimed at the baseline arousal your dog carries into the night, not at the bangs themselves. Fit it weeks ahead, not on the day, and pair it with The Fireworks Night Plan.
My dog is a rescue with an unknown history.
Very common in this market, and nothing here depends on knowing the backstory. Lowering the baseline helps regardless of how the dog got there.
Orders
Will it arrive before New Year's Eve?
Order well ahead. The collar needs time on the dog before the night, not during it.
What if it doesn't work?
Email us. Full refund, and you keep the collar. See The Full Night Guarantee.
Can I buy more than one?
Yes — two and three packs are cheaper per collar. Most people take two: one for now, one for the next event.
